Winter can mean long days of gray skies and bitter winds, but it doesn't have to mean bulky, unattractive clothing! Many women dread the onset of winter, as it means a retreat into thick, figure-erasing tops and thick pants, but don't worry. For plus sized women, the challenges can be even harder as so many of the clothes that are meant for us are already bulky and less than attractive. There are plenty of ways to still look snappy and stylish no matter what the wind's like outside, though, and all you have to do is know what you are looking for. Keep in mind that there is no substitute to layers when it comes to staying warm in the cold when you are inside and outside.
Get rid of those thick, itchy sweaters and opt for several layers of thin clothing. Clothes that conform to your body are more likely to make you feel warm. Seek out clothing that is long sleeved or stretchy and combine these with a sweatshirt or zipped jacket when you are indoors. Styles like these are ideal for being indoors or shopping in town for your holiday gifts. If you are seeking to be a little more stylish when it comes to your clothes you might consider pairing a skirt with thick opaque tights. Although you might want to consider the weather first, a short skirt with thick tights is a great look which will highlight your legs and curves.
With a pair of leather boots you will be ready for all kinds of weather including snow and rain. You can also wear tights under a favorite pair of jeans or pants that might otherwise be too thin to provide warmth during the winter months. Tights will extend your wardrobe beyond the end of autumn and into colder weather.
Coats that only come down to the waist should be avoided by plus sized women. Instead, think about purchasing a full length coat that will look stylish and keep you warm at the same time. Black wool is a good idea, or you could go with something more extravagant. Just make sure whatever you get suits your tastes; if you feel good in it, be sure to buy it because you will likely look good in it as well.
If you want something else you could even get a wool coat that reaches down to your ankles. Watch out with this kind of coat because it might make you look a little too boxy. The cut of the coat is essential.
Also, make sure you do not look like a tube! Winter's a time to be worried about icy roads and snow ins, not your wardrobe! With a little bit creative planning and foresight, you'll be set for the coming winter months.
